Brandbook: the manual that organises and professionalises the brand you already have

Organise the brand you already have and set clear rules so it’s always used the same way.

You have a logo, some more-or-less fixed colours and a typeface chosen years ago. But the logo appears stretched on a poster, the blue on the website isn’t the blue on the business cards, every designer interprets the brand their own way, and with every job someone asks: “can you send me the logo in good quality?”. The brand exists, but it has no rules.

A Brandbook (brand manual) is the document that sets those rules. We start from the elements you already have, review them, organise them and turn them into a professional visual system: which versions of the logo exist and when each one is used, which exact colours are yours, which typefaces, which graphic style and which kind of photography. It isn’t a redesign from scratch. It’s bringing order and judgement to what is already yours.

It’s useful when your brand already works and your clients recognise it, but you need it applied properly: you are about to renew your website, order signage or packaging, work with a new agency or bring in someone who will do in-house design. It also solves something very practical: having every logo file, in every format and version, in one place and ready to send.

If the problem is the foundation — the logo no longer represents you, it isn’t clear who you are targeting or what sets you apart — a Brandbook falls short, because it doesn’t touch strategy. In that case Full Branding is a better fit: it builds the brand and includes its own Brandbook.

  1. Current materials
  2. Brand review
  3. Adjustments and variants
  4. Usage rules
  5. Manual and files
  1. We gather what you have

You send us your logo and examples of where you use the brand: website, social media, business cards, signage. In a short meeting we get to know your business.

  2. We review the brand

We spot what repeats, what contradicts itself and what’s missing: different versions of the logo, colours that don’t match, mixed typefaces or uses that lower the quality.

  3. We organise and adjust

We fix the correct version of each element and prepare the variants needed for each use, always respecting the design your clients already recognise.

  4. We define the rules

We write down how each element is used: logo, colours, typefaces, text hierarchies, graphic style, photography, icons and tone. With examples of dos and don’ts.

  5. Review and delivery

We review the draft with you, apply your comments and deliver the final manual together with a well-organised folder of files.

  • Review of the brand elements you already have and how they are being used.
  • Correct logo use: main version and variants (horizontal, vertical, symbol) in positive and negative.
  • Clear space (the empty area that must surround the logo), minimum sizes and incorrect uses.
  • Colour palette with HEX (web colour code), RGB (screen colour) and CMYK (print colour) codes where applicable.
  • Corporate typefaces and text hierarchies: headings, subheadings, body text and highlights.
  • Graphic style, photography and iconography guidelines.
  • Tone of Voice guidelines (how your brand speaks) based on your current communication.
  • Examples of the brand applied to real pieces.
  • Final manual in PDF (a digital document ready to share and print).

  • Creating a new brand, a new logo or a name change: that’s what Full Branding is for.
  • Brand strategy, positioning and competitor analysis: included in Full Branding.
  • Naming and slogan: available as additional services.
  • Editable templates for social media or presentations: available as additional services (10 Social Templates, Company Presentation).
  • Photo or video production.
  • Trademark registration and legal advice.

Imagine a physiotherapy clinic in Madrid. Its patients recognise its logo, but the sign, the website and the Instagram posts use three different greens. Now it wants to renew its website with a new designer.

Before

Every supplier asks for the logo, receives a different file and interprets it their own way. The clinic looks slightly different everywhere, and someone on the team loses time hunting for files and correcting proofs.

After

The clinic keeps its logo, but now has an exact green, a fixed typeface, variants for each use and a PDF manual. The web designer and the sign maker work from the same rules.

  • Your brand looks coherent across every channel: website, social media, ads, documents and premises.
  • You project a more professional image without losing the recognition you have already built.
  • Any supplier, in-house or external, can apply your brand properly from the first job.
  • Your brand is documented as a company asset, not kept in one person’s head.

  • It can reduce rounds of corrections with designers, printers and sign makers, because the rules are already written down.
  • It avoids redesigning every material from scratch: new pieces start from a defined base.
  • It reduces the time the team spends looking for logo files or explaining “how it should look”.

  • Brandbook in PDF.
  • Logo and variants in SVG (a vector format that keeps its quality at any size), PDF, PNG (with transparent background) and JPG.
  • Versions for light and dark backgrounds.
  • Favicon (the small icon in the browser tab) where applicable.
  • Folder of files organised by use: web, social media and print.

Are you going to change my logo?

That isn’t the goal. The Brandbook starts from your current identity. We can make technical adjustments and prepare variants, without changing what your clients recognise. If you feel your logo no longer represents you, we’ll recommend Full Branding before we start.

What’s the difference between Brandbook and Full Branding?

The Brandbook organises and documents a brand that already exists. Full Branding builds or rebuilds the brand from strategy — audience, positioning, messages, tone, logo, visual identity and social kit — and also ends in a Brandbook. If your foundation works, Brandbook. If it needs rethinking, Full Branding.

Does it include templates for social media or presentations?

No. The Brandbook defines the rules; templates are separate pieces. You can add 10 Social Templates (editable templates in Canva, an online design tool) or Company Presentation.

Does it include trademark registration?

No. Trademark registration and legal advice are not included.
